Most fashion brands treat a color the same way they treat a trend: once it stops moving, it's gone, and a new one takes its place the following season. ELAN, family owned since Elan and Galit Savir started the label in Miami in 1991, works a little differently. Every so often a style that's been quietly selling for a year or more doesn't get pulled from the lineup when its original color slows down. It gets a second one instead.
The Julia Dress is a clean example. ELAN first listed it in Blue back in January 2025, a mini shirt-dress crafted from 100% cotton denim with flutter sleeves, a button-down front, and a self-tie belt that cinches at the waist before releasing into a tiered, flowy skirt. More than a year later, in May 2026, the same silhouette turned up again in a new washed charcoal-grey denim, not a reissue of the original color but a genuinely new one. The point collar, the mother-of-pearl-style buttons, the exposed topstitching along the princess seams, none of that changed. What did change is proof the design still had somewhere to go.
The Scuba Pant tells a similar story on the bottoms side of the business. It launched in Black in July 2025, a streamlined flare pant cut from a cozy, flexible scuba knit with a flattering slim leg through the hip and a soft drape through the flare. Almost a year later, in the same May 2026 window as the Julia Dress's new colorway, Scuba Pant showed up again in Stone, a warm, creamy neutral that pairs as easily with a cropped knit top as it does with a tailored jacket. Two completely different categories, a dress and a pant, both getting fresh colors in the same production cycle, long after either one was still technically new.
This blog has written before about ELAN styles that never actually left the lineup and about pieces that outlast their own season, both stories about designs that simply kept restocking in the same colors year after year. Julia and Scuba are a different kind of evidence. Restocking a bestseller is one thing, spending the time and cost to develop an entirely new colorway for a style that is already a year old is a more deliberate bet, the kind a brand only makes on a silhouette it actually believes in.
It is the same instinct that has shaped this label since Elan and Galit Savir opened their first store in Miami in 1991, where the inventory to this day still sits in one boutique in Aventura, Florida rather than a chain of them. ELAN's own way of putting it: "From Miami to the Mediterranean, every destination influences the colors, fabrics." The brand has always treated color as something worth getting right, not just filling in. The Savirs' daughters now help shape every collection alongside them, and the fact that a two-year-old pant or a well-worn denim dress can still earn a brand new color, rather than getting quietly discontinued, says as much about that instinct as any new arrival does.
Both pieces are available now in ELAN's dress collection and jeans, pants, skirts and shorts collection, alongside the rest of the styles that have earned their keep the same way. Read more about the family behind the label on the About page.
